Yellowstone - View across the lake

What incredibly beautifully country. Photographs cannot do justice to this beautiful part of the world. A really great time in my life, with a truly wonderful woman I let slip from me. I miss you T.

summer afternoon

©2004 Michael Scott

Taken late one afternoon near the Baptist Church my mother attends in Longview. Waited all day to get the perfect lighting. I was standing in the parking lot of the church, looking into this beautifully tranquil scene.

Taken from one of the decks of the Oasis. Simply spectacular sunsets that afternoon. The boat created a dramatic wake as if on cue.

Anna

© 2003

I have always struggled with the composition of this image, but continue to be drawn to it. I can't remember if her arm was rested on a table. Her face is relaxed, her eyes off in thought. A beautiful, elegant woman; a beautiful person.

pumpjack

© 2004

When I was a child 9 or 10, a pumpjack similar to this was a short distance from our home. Back then, being the early sixties, gasoline engines powered the pumps. The steady thump of the exhaust of the slow turning engines became as comforting as a heartbeat. To this day the smell of crude and the steady rhythm of a pumping unit recall vivid memories, and bring restful comfort.

This unit was photographed in that same area. Those were wonderful days - roaming the fields, going to work with my grandfather as he tended the wells, visiting the oil camps.

beach02

foggy beach in Corpus Christi. It was an incredible experience to stand on the beach, wrapped in the fog, and muted sounds of the wave. The colors were eerie, soft, and stangely comforting.

I love the feeling when I am standing on the beach. The breath of the sea, the ever changing sky, the lap and roar of water. Perhaps my sun sign calls. I often find my greatest peace in the rare moments I visit the beach.

A must see in Texas. Again, a single photograph cannot do justice to the miles and fields of flowers.

I love tall stormy clouds. There is such power and majesty. A single photograph cannot do justice to the fluid art that is a building thunderstorm. It is to be felt, breathed - partaken of - deeply - perhaps spiritually.
